Falling for his brother's boyfriend broke his heart. Now he's back home and falls in love all over again.

One birthday kiss and Kieran realizes he is in danger of falling for his brother’s boyfriend, Jordan. Leaving for college, then moving to another country is the only way to ease the ache in his heart.

But, when his father becomes ill and his sister begs him to come home, Kieran returns for good. He finds the family business nearly bankrupt and Jordan, the man he ran from, beaten down by despair and guilt.

Friendship is what they promise each other as they work to repair the business, but it could never be enough for Kieran. When secrets spill, and there are vital decisions to be made, Kieran realizes two things; he’s back home, and he wants to stay with Jordan for good.

Now he just needs to convince Jordan.

4 out of 5 stars

Back Home is a standalone contemporary m/m romance.

Back Home is a friends to lovers romance with a bit of an twist to it. Kieran has been in love with Jordan since he was a teenager, unfortunately there was nothing he could do about his feelings. See, Jordan was Kieran's older brother, Brad's, boyfriend. Through the years that Jordan was with Brad,  there were 2 times where he slipped and kissed Kieran. The first time was when Kieran was 16 during a game of Truth or Dare, and the second was the day they buried Brad. Both times were memorable for both men but neither let it go any further because of Jordan's relationship with Brad. Kieran actually left the country after graduating high school to continue his education at a university in London, England.

Once Kieran was over in London, he tended to avoid coming home because of his feelings for Jordan. That is until he receives a panicked phone call from his sister that Jordan has been hurt and he's needed back home. What Kieran didn't know was that the family business wasn't doing well, and Jordan was running himself ragged with guilt and the need to help the family who had taken him in all those years ago when his own mother died. Kieran's return home sets off a series of events that will change both his and Jordan's lives forever.

Back Home was an enjoyable friends to lovers and second chance at love story. As the story unfolds you realize that life's obstacles and their loyalty to Brad kept these two lovers apart for too long. I kind of wanted to see more memories though of the instances with Jordan and Kieran. We do see some regarding Brad and Jordan which are important to the storyline, but not enough of Jordan and Kieran. Also I felt a bit like Jordan wasn't 100% sure of himself once Kieran came on scene to stay. Which I found odd was Jordan's reactions because he'd been a part of their family for so long that it felt wrong that he'd question their loyalty or love for him just because Kieran was home.

I did really like the story as it flowed well, and the characters were very endearing. The main characters were the complete focus of the story, while the secondary characters were just that...they were put firmly in the secondary character category. I would have liked just a touch more to be filled in with the secondary characters, not necessarily back story but as they were both Kieran and Jordan's family, it would have been good to see more interaction.

All in all though this was a good story and I recommend that readers form their own opinion of the story as what I like or dislike may be something that works well for the next person.
